Who did Jesus say he was? Let’s see what Jesus said about himself and what others said about him. 1. Mark 6:1 & 4-5 “Leaving there Jesus returned to his own country, and his disciples followed him…and Jesus said to them, ‘ A prophet is despised only in his own country, his own relatives and his own family .’ And he could work no miracles there but only healed a few sick people by laying his hands on them.” These verses are Jesus own words. Here Jesus clearly refers to himself as a prophet. The people in his home town rejected him once they realized that he was the local carpenter’s son. 2.
